Every Shiny Thing
Every Shiny Thing is my crow sandbox, made in Godot under my studio CindieForge and coming to Steam. You live in a nest on the ridge above Ashby Green, and the town below is full of things that shine: a door key in the grass, a coin in the fountain, a teaspoon at the café, a sandwich left on a bench. Nobody tells you whether to be helpful or a menace. The town keeps its routines and remembers what you did to them. The free demo is the first day, and it plays in a desktop browser with nothing to install. Nine of the systems sold here are vendored into it and doing real work. Every picture on this page is a frame from the current build. The town is still changing.
Client: CindieForge · Timeline: 2026 · Role: Developer, design, code, systems integration
Stack: Godot, GDScript, SELODEV system packs, Web export, Free demo in a browser, Nine systems vendored, A whole 3D town
Problem
- Build a town that notices a crow: people with routines, who react to what you take and remember it.
- Put the first day in front of players as a free demo that runs in a browser tab, with no download and no account.
Approach
- Gave the town's clock to Day/Night and its weather to Weather. The wind that swings the town's wires is read from the Weather system.
- The things worth stealing are Inventory items. The hidden errands belong to Quests.
- Let Dialogue play the lines of the dead who come out at dusk, and built the options, pause and key-rebinding menus on Settings and Menus.
- Exported to the web, with Save/Load holding the day's progress so a reload carries on, and AAA Visuals and Audio doing the look and the sound.
Results
- A free demo of the first day, playable now in a desktop browser, with the full game coming to Steam.
- Nine systems vendored and doing real work: Save/Load, Day/Night, Weather, Audio, Settings and Menus, AAA Visuals, Quests, Dialogue, and Inventory.
- Weather gets its first public proof here.
What you can verify
- A public demo you can play in a tab right now, running the exact systems on sale here.
- The Weather card on the /tools page links back to this game, so you can watch the wind before you buy.
